Information and Artifactual Literacies:
Engaging Minds in Libraries and Museums

IFLA Information Literacy Section Satellite Preconference
DePaul University, Lincoln Park Campus
Chicago, Illinois, USA
August 11-12th, 2016
Co-sponsored by Association of College & Research Libraries and
DePaul University Library
You are invited to submit a proposal for this preconference to be held in conjunction with the 82nd IFLA World Library and Information Conference, Columbus, Ohio, USA, August 13-19, 2016.
Curiosity and critical thinking skills are habits of mind that librarians, archivists, and museum educators strive to develop and exercise in their students, researchers, and visitors.  Material culture and special collections encourage a multimodal approach to learning that can complement and extend traditional models of information literacy. This satellite conference will feature both practice and theory on the myriad ways in which primary sources and museum collections can be integrated into instructional programs.
We welcome proposals from library and museum practitioners, educators, and researchers from around the world.  Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
·         Instructional Design and Delivery
o   Active learning and class session design
o   Beyond the humanities: connecting with the sciences and social sciences
o   Visual literacy
·         Program Administration
o   Assessment and analytics
o   Mapping to learning outcomes and institutional mission
o   Programmatic, developmental approach vs. one size fits all
·         Resources
o   Traveling trunks and online teaching kits
o   Building online collections and using digital objects in instruction
o   Professional development/instructional design resources

Proposal formats can include research papers, practical presentations, panels, interactive workshops, pecha kucha/lightning rounds, and poster sessions.
How to Submit a Proposal (Deadline February 15, 2016)
All proposals must be submitted by February 15, 2016, using the Proposal Submission Form. First-time presenters and new professionals are encouraged to apply. Doctoral/Graduate students are also invited to participate.  All satellite presentations will be delivered in English.  Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 21, 2016.

At least one of the presenters must register and attend the satellite to deliver the presentation. All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters.
